It’s that time of year, berries are abundant and the weather is getting warmer, smoothie season is upon us.
Before you get blending here’s a few things we want to encourage!
Organic processes are environmentally conscious. They promote greater soil fertility by rotating crops and use natural materials such as compost and manure. Plus **Super Important** organic foods contain lower levels of chemicals and they’re not genetically modified.
If you’re adding things like peanut butter or protein powder it is important to check the ingredients and make sure they are clean. How do you know? If you can’t pronounce it or have a clue what it is, move on.
Support your community! Check out your farmers market or a natural grocery store like Roots or Artisan’s Palate. I definitely recommend talking to Pia at Artisan’s Palate if you have any questions about supplements or clean eating.
If it’s fresh going into the freezer it will be just as ripe/fresh when it comes out! No need for extras to go to waste.
Now let’s talk about some easy add-ins that can level up your smoothie…
· Collagen Powder – Great for joint, bone, hair and skin health.
· Mushroom Adaptogens – They help your body “adapt” to physical, chemical and biological stressors.
· MCT Oil – MCT is a healthy saturated fat that supports weight loss and improves energy and cognitive health.
· Goji Berries – Anti-inflammatory food and high in antioxidants
Stormy
Coconut water, banana, pineapple, fresh ginger, blackberries, mint and coconut oil. Why? Because last time I was in Costa Rica with my mom we had it on the beach together and it’s the perfect summer smoothie.
Anique
Frozen mango and pineapple with almond milk. It tastes like summer: amusement parks, waves crashing on the shoreline and long walks holding my daughter’s hand.
Lo’s
Apple, wheat grass, pineapple, spirulina, immune tonic, adaptogen mushroom blend. Why? Because it makes my body feel like sunshine!! I seriously love this blend for immune support and longevity.
XOXO
