Why you should hit the barre!
Barre workouts are no joke and in popular demand lately. Why? The results!!
– Better posture
– Stronger glutes and legs
– Powerful core
– Increased muscle endurance
– Increased flexibility
– Increased confidence
The goal for this class is to leave it all at the studio. Sweat, stress, you name it…lets work it out!
A barre class is more static, focusing on tiny movements to work each muscle to exhaustion. Umm…what does this mean?
Ok let me paint you a picture, you just walked into class and the instructor says grab 2lb.weights, and you’re like noooo….I am much stronger I’m grabbing heavier. Put down the heavy weights, I promise 2lbs is all you need! We will work your upper body with tiny movements and high reputations until the absolute edge. The 2lb. weights will soon feel like 100!
>> Then we do the same thing with your legs.
What you’ll be introduced to, with the high reps, is the barre shake. The barre shake is when your body or a certain muscle group starts to shake uncontrollably. I used to think the shake meant I was weak. It is a sign you are pushing your body to greater strength. You want the shake, finding the shake means you succeeded.
What to expect when you walk into The Yoga Barre for a barre class…
– First off, a friendly face, whether it’s the instructor, Miss Sheri at the front desk or another member…everyone is so welcoming.
– The instructor will advise you what props you will need for class i.e., weights, bands, balls and help you get set up.
– Fun energizing music!
– Pilates, yoga, and dance moves.
– In our Cardio Barre class expect more kickboxing and other heart pumping moves. It’s not the whole class, and don’t let this scare you, there will be plenty of leg shaking and toning going on too.
– In the Barre Fusion class, I add it all. Barre, Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing, and sometimes even heavy weights. Not one class will be the same.
Barre advice.…
– Get there early so you can get acquainted with the studio and instructor.
– Take breaks when you need it. Trust us!
– Modify, if something doesn’t feel good, don’t do it. Ask the instructor for other options.
– Put down the weights and props if it’s too much. Your body is the machine, all you need is your focus, add the props later.
– If the instructor comes by to help with form, please know its because we want you to succeed and get the most out of class. We are on your team!
– Hydrate…. you need more than just water. Please read here Why you need more than water
– Ask questions.
Barre is a well-rounded, full body, all level, fun workout. I’m going to be honest though, doing barre every day is not good. Doing the same exercise every day, no matter what it is, is not good. (Except yoga and that’s a whole different story) Mix it up. Your body needs variety for optimal results. Yoga, run, walk, spin, sculpt and add barre.
*Adding barre consistently will change your body and life for the better!
Hope to see you in a class soon,
Nicole
